Phoebe's Diner Reviews
Wow, I have ordered from this restaurant on a delivery app known for its BOGOs on Migas, Badass Bacon and Eggs, and Chicken Biscuit but this was my second time in person. Last time, I sat at a very uncomfortable table but this time I sat at the bar. The coffee was adequate but the staff's attention was insanely good. My best friend and I split the Crab Benedict as an appetizer and it was pretty good. I wouldn't order it again at its price point but it was nicely prepared with perfectly cooked asparagus. The star of the show was the Cheeky Monkey. I don't know how to explain it -- something like crispy, gooey, crunchy, soft, runny perfection. The sage sausage gravy was so good, my friend used some on her Fried Chicken and Grits. She enjoyed her Bloody Mary, too. If I could get the same two women as servers every time, I'd be back in person. Here's to you, Phoebe's Diner. I see what you're capable of!
We found this little spot while walking around the city. Super clean space. Everyone that was working provided great customer service and were super friendly. Food was fresh and delicious! Eat some bacon cuz you won't regret it.
We had such a great brunch experience here! First of all, it was a busy Texas home gameday so it was fairly crowded and there was a waitlist on Yelp. We joined the waitlist, and Noe the hostess was so kind and helpful throughout the process on a busy day! We were seated within 30 minutes of joining the waitlist. Once seated, I was reminded of what a gluten friendly place this was! The fried green tomatoes appetizer is phenomenal and fully GF! They have dedicated fryers and things are well marked on the menu. My favorite item here is easily the Crab Cake Benny - eggs Benedict on a crab cake rather than an English muffin. Everything about it is perfection! As the cherry on top, their crab cakes are gluten free! Our waitress, Izzy, was super friendly and helpful with our large group and had great recommendations on food and drink to order. This was a great reminder of the great quality and service at this local Austin staple - I can't wait to go back!
Came here before we flew out of Austin. About a 45 minute wait on a Sunday morning. Not too bad. Parking is a pain with the small lot but we managed to find a spot. Food was good. Got the crab cake Benny, which was pretty amaze. The crab cake tasted fresh, béchamel was good, and the asparagus was cooked well. Also got a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were different. More of a corn meal consistency so not your typical buttery biscuit. I liked it. It was different but still delicious. Gravy was fantastic. Chock full of flavor. Overall great experience. Staff was attentive. Food came out fast. Would recommend.
Phoebe's Cafe is a solid choice for breakfast in downtown Austin. The service is quick, and the staff is friendly, so you're not waiting around long. The food is really good all around, nothing too crazy, but you're always going to get a solid meal. Not everything's perfect, but for the most part, it's hard to go wrong with most of the menu. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely breakfast, it's a reliable spot that's definitely worth stoping by to check out.
